In an effort to be leaders of our global community, Morasha Jewish Day School has decided to take deliberate steps to repair our planet and to raise the consciousness of the larger community. Morasha students will lead by example as they take an active role in "greening" our school or making environmentally conscious choices about the school's use of resources. We will foster an enthusiasm for nature and compassion for our environment in our classrooms and our community. Morasha students' leadership however will not end with the changes in our school community, the magnitude of the climate crisis demands more from it's leaders. our students will take with them an understanding of sustainable living and deliver the message of environmental consciousness to the larger community.

Morasha's Ner Tamid (Eternal Light) Goes Solar!
It only makes sense that the Ner Tamid (Eternal Light) in Morasha’s Sanctuary shines bright solely by the power of the sun. After all, Morasha is committed to going green and reducing the school’s carbon footprint. This is one of the ways that the school is putting its ideals into action. Robert Heng of Sunshine Solar Energy donated his time and materials to complete the project. On Thursday, February 19 Heng was honored as a volunteer of the month during Morasha’s weekly Torah Service. Heng explained to the teachers, students, and parents gathered in the sanctuary how the technology worked and why it is good for the environment. He told the students, “You are the future. It is possible to have everything powered by the sun one day but you must be the ones to make it happen.”

“See my works, how fine they are: now all that I have created, I created for your benefit.
Think upon this and do not corrupt and destroy my world, for if you destroy it,
there is no one to restore it after you.” - Ecclesiastes Rabbah 7:28
