HAVDALAH
This past Saturday night over 150 people gathered on the Morasha Campus to pay tribute to the school and participate in a community Havdalah Service led by our 5th Graders. For those of you who could not be with us, I am including some of the original poetry our 5th Graders wrote and remarks that I made for the occasion.
According to the Midrash it is said that on Shabbat we each inherit an extra soul that adds to the sacredness, celebration and holiness of Shabbat. When Shabbat is over, it is said that our extra soul departs. As we enter into the regular week there is an attempt to compensate for losing the extra soul. During Havdalah we say a blessing over sweet wine, sweet smelling spices, and a beautiful candle flame. We sing songs. This is done as an attempt to fill us up and bring the sweetness and sacredness of Shabbat into the ordinary week. Over the past many years, Morasha, through the caring faculty and staff and educational program filled with values, gave all our students, past and present, an extra soul. Morasha students bring their extra soul and the special sacredness of Morasha into the ordinary world. Our students are Morasha's greatest gift and they are our legacy. MY FINAL ARTICLE
Dear Morasha Families and Friends, I have been blessed to be the Jewish Studies Director at Morasha for the past seven years. I am truly grateful to all of you for allowing me to share my love of Judaism and Torah with you and your children. Our sages ensured the future of Judaism by focusing on study and prayer. No matter where Jews lived, our sacred text went with them. Wherever Jews gathered, they prayed and celebrated and created communities of learners. It is our responsibility to continue this tradition! My wish is that you continue to teach your children our sacred texts and important values, perform with them our beautiful rituals, participate with them in meaningful mitzvot, and continue to instill in them the wonder and awe of our faith. Your children are all outstanding Torah scholars! They are curious and they ask insightful and thoughtful questions. They have strong faith. They know that being Jewish is special and important. From them, I have learned so much and I will miss their enthusiasm about reading Torah, leading services, and doing tikkun olam. I hope they will continue to find these opportunities wherever they are! Thank you for your support throughout these past seven years. I will never forget the unique experience we have shared at Morasha Jewish Day School. May God bless you and keep you. B'kavod, Robin Hoffman |

AFTER SCHOOL CARE & TOURNEY DURING OUR LAST WEEK
Mrs. Solomon's last day with our students for after school care will be this Friday. She will be enjoying family who are flying in to visit. Ms. Baldanado, who does our morning care, will be providing afternoon care as well next Monday - Thursday (The school will not be providing child care on Friday, June 19 the last day of school). She would like to run a small tournament with the students who will be in her care those days.
She will be bringing in her X-Box and games and was wondering if anyone could be able to provide a Wii system and some games for those days. The system will be locked up each night and it can be picked up on the last day of school.
If anyone can provide this system for a few days, please contact the office.
